The collaboration that we started in the fall of 2023 with local school "Šperkárna" (SUPŠ and VOŠ Turnov) has a result - the OPULENS glass bowl, designed by third-year student Emma Kuncová. You can see her from Friday, April 5, 2024 at the exhibition "Špéra was, is and will be" at the Museum of the Czech Paradise in Turnov.

Innovation in education

About thirty pupils of the third year of Turnovské Špéra participated in a project within the subject of design, the aim of which was to create an art object with the help of new technologies. In October, the students created 3D designs, from which we selected 4 advanced designs together with the design teacher Pavlína Končická. In the end, the design of a glass bowl by Emma Kuncová was chosen for implementation. Končická adds: "I am very happy about this cooperation and I am very pleased that our students also see its importance. We will certainly continue with similar projects, because the connection of teaching with practice and new technologies is crucial for the future employment of our graduates.

Unique technology created an art object

The result of this interesting collaboration, the OPULENS bowl, was created as a 3D model and was produced using unique CNC glass milling technology. It represents an unusual combination of artistic design and technological innovation. Thanks to the project, students got the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in the field of design and art in a real industrial environment. By connecting with a local company, they gained invaluable access to modern technologies and professional know-how. All this contributes to their better preparation for their future careers and opens up new possibilities in the field of employment. However, at the same time, cooperation with an art school is a unique opportunity for us to participate in the educational process and gain new perspectives for our products and processes. Working with young talented individuals allows us to explore new directions in development and innovation. The connection between school and industry is therefore a source of innovation and inspiration for both parties.

The resulting object will be on display at the exhibition "Špéra was, is and will be" held on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of SUPŠ and VOŠ Turnov. You can visit it from April 5 until the end of 2024 at the Museum of the Czech Paradise in Turnov.
